Outer Space
I am sitting in a chair, floating through outer space.
I have a glass bubble around my head.
I'm floating very slowly in the darkness, and I'm very relaxed.
School
I am walking through the halls of Carnarvon Elementary school.
It's at night, and I have a late class there.
I pass Mr. Owen (my grade 7 teacher)
who is wearing a big off white sweater and gold rimmed glasses.
I walk into the girls bathroom
and into one of the stalls where there is writing all over the walls
and a nasty beat up toilet that has no seat and filthy water up to the rim of the bowl.
I flush the toilet and it overflows right away.
I come out of the stall and note how low the bathroom mirrors are since I'm not a kid anymore.
I go past the office and into my class, where a girl has stolen my book.
I confront her, but she denies stealing it, so I reach inside her desk and pull it out.
I open it to prove it's mine by flipping the pages backwards
so it shows her writing, then mine before it.
I take my book back and am reading it when the bell rings.
I walk back into the bathroom but turn a different direction once inside the door.
There I find a lounge area with a coffeemaker, a microwave, and danishes.
I'm quite surprised how nice the room is in comparison to the bathroom.
I leave the lounge and exit the school.
Outside, there is a boy swinging on the swingset, and the sun is out now.
I curl up on the grass between the sidewalk and a hippyvan and fall asleep.
Music mansion
I have just walked into a mansion that doubles as a music studio
I'm carrying a chair that has three pairs of inline skates affixed to the bottom of it
the chair is extremely expensive, and I'm trading it for guitar lessons.
I look at my watch and see it's 11:00, which makes me 1/2 hour early for my lesson.
The mobile chair turns into an electric guitar.
I decide that I want to live here.
A crusty old musician comes in with a $3000 stereo, wanting to pawn it.
The only aspect of the place that I dislike is the yellow carpet.
I look into a full length mirror and see myself in striped hiphuggers (orange, black and yellow)
done up with my Alice in Wonderland belt.
The buckle has come undone, so I clip it shut.
I find a radio and turn it on.
Buzz Aldren is talking about how he tried to do a stand up comic routine while he was on the moon,
but the Feds didn't go for it and destroyed the tapes.
Then he begins to discuss how he'd been paying a call girl exorbitant rates to sleep with him
and is now in debt...
I turn the radio off and walk around the house trying to imagine what it would be like to live there.
I leave a note for the future tenants and continue playing the guitar.
The belt buckle keeps coming undone, so I keep fixing it.
[the phone rang and woke me up]
Boarding school
I walk into a building similar to a boarding school.
I open a closet door and look inside.
There are a number of friends (I don't recognize them, but they're "friends" all the same)
in the room, all women, and I'm trying on clothes from the closet as a joke.
The head mistress comes in and mistakes me for someone named "Lynn".
She shows me my cloths and gives me a large stack of money and a bunch of cards.
One of the cards is for food, another is a boating trip card that depicts the Skipper and Gilligan,
a third is a limitless gold card.
She gives me extra money and leaves the room.
I look through the clothing and put on a beautiful olive green sweater
with tiny pearl buttons down the front and a pair of perfect Levi's 501 buttonflys.
It turns out that the head mistress had met "Lynn" before her glasses had been fixed.
I wonder to myself what happened to Lynn - where she is.
I feel that I know she won't reappear, but I don't know why.
In the evening there is a party at the boarding school/house.
I've hidden all the credit cards and money, deciding that using them would be wrong
and I can always give them back if I get caught.
The party atmosphere is quite dark,
and there is a weird skinny drunk man in a ratty leather coat wandering about.
I sense that he is deeply perverted, dark; a greedy thief.
I am in control inside and out, and very strong.
He cowers inside and is flickering between his human image
and that of a thin and scraggly grey dog.
Then he is gone.
I sit on a large bed with a group of my friends and watch the party wind down.
A girl dressed as a sheep walks past,
and the majority of the remaining people follow her, in search of food.
When they are gone, I search the drawer for the cards and money that I have hidden there.
I am pleasantly surprised to find everything still there.
In fact there is MORE money (about $200) than I left there in the first place,
but I can tell the bills apart, as the first set are new and crisp
and the second set have obviously been used.
I separate them into two piles and wake.
